Most agile improvements are focused at the scrum team level and limited in scope to the Development organization. But most product failures happen before the first developer is assigned, before the first user story is written. Smart product-level and portfolio-level decisions about market segments, target users and pricing/packaging are essential to the success of commercial software.
Rich led a talk about the need for portfolio-level strategy and the organizational challenges to good executive decision-making. And we looked at simple allocation tools that can help put business agility to good use.
